Edwin "EJ" McGuire, 83, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. He was born June 2, 1930 in Pratt, the son of Edwin Paul and Inez Louise (Jones) McGuire.
EJ was a referee and clock keeper at Zenda schools for many years. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was a phillumenist (matchbook collector). He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church at Natrona.
On July 30, 1950, he married Virginia Olive Brummer at Pratt. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Ed (Charlene) McGuire of Dodge City, and Gary (Marianne) McGuire of Pratt; a daughter, Dee (Rick) Engquist of McPherson; six grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) McGuire, Evan McGuire, Rich Engquist, Laura Engquist, Vincent Engquist and Samantha (Craig) Dutton; two great-grandsons, Carter and Henry McGuire; a sister, Karellen Larrison of Pratt; two brothers, Merwyn McGuire of Johnstown, Colo., and Dick McGuire of Aurora, Colo.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday, July 5, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at St Paul Lutheran Church at Natrona, with Pastor Michael Schotte presiding. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
