Herbert W. Park, 94, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. Sergeant Herbert W. Park was the son of Earl and Mina (Harris) Park.

He served from 1941-1945 in the army during World War II in the much-feared Seventh Division, sometimes called the Bloody 7th Division. He wore a unit citation, combat infantry badge, Pacific campaign medal with four battle stars, bronze star for bravery, purple heart and other smaller medals.

Herbert was very generous. He donated seven and one half gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. He was a member of the VFW in Kingman and the Cunningham American Legion.

On Dec. 9, 1951, he married Ruth Nelson. They divorced. On March 1, 1975, he married Barbara J. Herd at Cunningham. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2009.

He is survived by a daughter, Gail (Gerald) Newby and a son Ronnie (Cindy) Park both of Pratt; stepsons, Don Herd of St. George, Utah and Tom Herd of Hutchinson; brother-in-law and wife Jack and Jackie Orr of Hutchinson; brothers, Lawrence (June) Park of Cunningham, Herman Park of Haysville, and Marvin (Jo Ann) Park of Liberal; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Luelma Ditto and Jenny Hobbs and two infant sisters.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Thursday at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, at the mortuary, with Pastor Mike McGovney presiding. Burial with military honors will be in the Shelman Cemetery at Cunningham.
