A Red Cross community blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the Pratt Community Building, 619 N. Main.
Walk-ins are welcome.
Many fewer donors than expected gave blood during June and the first week of July, leading the Red Cross to issue an emergency request for donors of all types — especially O negative, A negative and B negative.
Donations were down about 10 percent in June, resulting in about 50,000 fewer donations than expected.
Every day the Red Cross must collect almost 17,000 pints of blood for patients at nearly 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country.
