Dora Jean Huitt, 84, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt. She was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Gilbert and Loretta (Walsh) Pearson.

On Jan. 15, 1949, she married Curtis Eugene Huitt at Cullison. He survives.

Other survivors include three daughters. Cheryl (Pierre) Michaud, Corpus Christi, Texas, Debbie (Alan) Kruse, Hutchinson, and Cathy Huitt, Corpus Christi; two sons, Randy (Janet) Huitt, Pratt, and Chris (Susan) Huitt, Pittsburg; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Loyd Lewis Pearson.

She was a loving wife to her husband Curtis for 64 years and a gentle, caring mother to her five children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Dora instilled patience, understanding and compassion into all who were close to her. She was always quick to praise others for their accomplishments, while never shining the light back upon herself. She enjoyed returning to the Colorado mountains of her youth with her husband and family, creating many lasting memories. Beyond taking care of her family, Dora enjoyed making many lasting friendships and helping others whenever needed.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, July 29, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, with John Hamm officiating.
