The Pratt 86ers will host the Kansas State American Legion Class AA Champion Tournament beginning on Wednesday at Smoky Ford Field. All games will be at Green Sports Complex, Smoky Ford Field.
Teams are seeded by Zone, not by record. Game one is at 1 p.m. featuring zone 5’s Concordia (22-1) against zone 4’s Wellington. Following that game in the afternoon session will be Hays TMP (zone 6, 18-13) against Iola (zone 3, 37-3.)
In the evening games, zone 7 Ellis will play zone 2 Rock Creek at 6:30 to be followed by host Pratt (11-18) against zone 1 Sabetha (36-11).
Tournament official Terry Jochems stressed that starting times for each session’s initial game will be adhered to, but subsequent games in a session will be “to follow.” If the first game of an afternoon or evening session is run-ruled shortened, for example, the next game will begin one half hour later. But if the second game of the afternoon session is abbreviated, the first game of the evening session will not be played until the stated time.
The Tribune will keep you up-to-date on the 86ers progress, game times etc, via Twitter @Neil D_Tribune and online at pratttribune.com.
If Pratt wins their first game, they will play the Thursday late game. If they lose in the opening round, they will play the second game on Thursday, approximately noon.
