Drake D. Evert

Drake David Evert, 16, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at Preston as the result of a car accident.

He was born Jan. 14, 1997, to Jay and Kim Hessman Evert at Pratt. They survive. He was currently a student at Pratt High School, where he was active in football, baseball and powerlifting. He loved anything outdoors, hunting and playing cards.

He loved life, his biological family, and his sports team families. He was naturally funny, light hearted, took situations and made them positive. He was dedicated to what ever it was he was involved in. He lived by his motto of "Life's short, play hard."

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt, PHS football, PHS baseball, 86ers and Jr. Legion baseball.

Survivors include his parents of the home; sister, Kelli Evert, Manhattan; brothers, Devon, Kaden and Dawson Evert of the home; grandparents, LaDonna Joyce and Wendell Evert, Longmont, Colo., and Jerry and Linda Hessman, Dodge City; Aunt Diane Evert, Milwaukee, Wis., Aunt Cheri Anderson and husband Scott and children, Brock and Brady, Aunt Raquel and husband, Bill Smellage, and children, Caleb and Abigail, Longmont, Colo., Uncle Mike and wife, Karen Evert and children, Chesney and Ryan, San Carlos, Calif., Uncle Tim Hessman and wife, Heather and children, Sage and Wyatt, Wichita; Uncle Pete Hessman and wife, Sally, and children Cody, Tyler and Brooke, Beaver, Okla., Uncle Shane Hessman, Pratt., Uncle Durk Hessman and wife, Misty and children, Kenzi and Halli, Cimarron, Uncle Andy and wife, Rylene Hessman and son, Klayton, Dodge City, Uncle Matthew and wife Amber Hessman, Goddard and children, Aidan and Berklee, Aunt Gina Wilson and husband, Mike and children, Cole, Kelsie and Mikeyla; Great uncle Dennis Rehmert and Aunt Joann Rehmert, Dodge City.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers Orvil Drake and Louis Rehmert; uncle, David Rehmert; great grandparents, Ruth and Elwyn Evert and Fred and Roberta Hessman.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Floyd McKinney presiding. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt following the service.
