  • A Pratt man was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer following a pursuit that ended with a vehicle in the woods on the north side of Lemon Park.
Besides the assault charge, Brandon Quinn, 22 of Pratt, was also charged with theft of property, criminal damage to property and fleeing and eluding a police officer, said Pratt County Attorney Ken Van Blaricum.
About 11 p.m. on Aug. 5, Pratt police officers were responding to the report of a stolen vehicle in Pratt when an office encountered a vehicle that matched the description near First and New.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver accelerated and fled. Near Third and Hamilton, the vehicle barely missed hitting a second police vehicle head on, said Pratt Police Sgt. Kent Wyatt.
The suspect continued to flee and committed numerous traffic violations. The chase entered Lemon Park where the fleeing vehicle crashed through the gate damaging the vehicle and gate.
The suspect continued around the park and finally went off the road on the northeast corner and drove into a wooded area where branches and fallen logs finally stopped the vehicle that suffered extensive damage.
The suspect fled on foot while an officer pursued him on foot as well. Quinn was captured a short time later and about two hours after the pursuit began he was booked into Pratt County Jail around 1 a.m. on Aug. 6 where he remains with a $100,416 bond.
