  • Letter: Thanks to Red Cross volunteers

    • email print
  • Dear Editor,
The Cannonball Trail American Red Cross would like to extend a warm thank you to the local volunteers who came forward to offer support to flood victims in our area.
In addition, we would like to thank the volunteers' employers who gave their employee's time off to assist in this response, as well as Sonic Drive-In for providing a meal to our lineman.
Booker T. Washington once said, "If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." This advice has helped lift up countless people and create more resilient communities around the world – our community included.
We have had 12 very special volunteers from Pratt and Edwards County area come forward to assist in distributing meals, clean up kits, performing damage assessment and providing comfort to those in the shelter.
The American Red Cross truly could not operate without its volunteers. In fact, 96 percent of work performed is done by volunteers, according to our national statistics. We truly appreciate the dedication and effort our volunteers put forth in placing others' needs before their own.
    Sincerely,
    Donna Meier Pfeifer,
    Director, Cannonball Trail,
    Central Kansas Chapter
