A Sawyer man escaped serious injury Monday following a two-semi wreck about 12:25 p.m. on K-61 Highway about two miles south of Preston.
Jordan King, 31 of Sawyer, was northbound in a 2007 International semi pulling a belly dump trailer with asphalt and stopped on K-61 at the intersection of K-61 and NE 70th Street, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol accident web site.
King was yielding to southbound traffic then started to make a left turn onto NE 70th Street when Velibor Kecojevic, 40 of Belvidere, Ill., approached the intersection, also traveling northbound, in a 2014 Kenworth semi pulling a loaded refrigerated trailer.
Kecojevic failed to yield to on-coming traffic then started to pass King in a no-passing zone as King made his left turn onto NE 70th Street.
The Kenworth hit the International just behind the driver's door and both trucks came to a stop upright on the north side of the highway and partway in the ditch.
Pratt County EMS transported Kecojevic to Pratt Regional Medical Center. His condition was unavailable.
King was listed as not transported however he did go to the emergency room where he was treated and released.
