Henderson and Albers, although pleased with the win, were a little bit disappointed to find out that, despite the Tribune sports reporter’s grandiose delusions, the title represents only the championship of the Park Hills Men’s League and not of the entire world.
Frank Meisenheimer and Darrell Shumway won the 3rd place match by forfeiture over Rodger Tiesing and Kelly Mason. Although Shumway expressed his belief that the match had been forfeited out of fear on the part of his opponents, the Tribune believes Mason’s absence may have had more to do with his recently having being named head of the Kansas Bankers Association.
In the 5th place match, CL Meigs and Brian Meyers downed Bruce Kempton and James Stovall by 75-84 net.
In other action, golfers not in the playoffs participated in the first of weekly open scrambles. Larry Myers, Kenton Ladenburger and Kelly Garretson were able to claim victory with a 30 on the back despite being saddled with Neil (The Hack) DePew as their 4th.
DePew later attempted to claim he had contributed to the effort, sinking two birdie putts and knocking his approach stiff on #18. However, Ladenburger and Myers pointed out that they had read the putts for DePew and that the shot on #18 was pigluck. Garretson was the true hero, recording two solo up-and-downs.
