Family and friends of Alexandria Duran gathered in Centennial Park Saturday for a fund-raiser to help the family.
Leading the fund-raising efforts was "Stop the Violence" an organization in Wichita that helps families that are victims of violence.
Duran was shot and killed on July 24 in Pratt. She was pregnant at the time and the unborn baby died as well. She had three small children.
J. Greer founded "Stop the Violence" after an act of violence impacted his life. He was a coach for a K-8 baseball team and one of his players was killed.
"His death touched my heart," Greer said.
From the incident, Greer set out to help families that are touched by random acts of violence. The event Saturday was to help the family raise enough money for a headstone for Duran and to help the children with some basic expenses.
Greer is also a member of the motorcycle group "Underground Kings" that also participated.
Locally, the Earl H. Ellis VFW Post 1362 sponsored the fundraiser.
