Free tax workshops will be offered Oct. 3 at the Livingston Price Center, 1830 N. Main, Kingman, sponsored by Cowley College Kansas Small Business Development Center. To register, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Contractors and subcontractors are invited to a workshop from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. This workshop is devoted exclusively to sales tax issues for construction contractors and subcontractors — those who provide plumbing, carpentry, electrical, roofing, heating/air conditioning, landscaping, oil field services, etc.
Topics include how sales tax applies to materials and labor, the use of Project Exemption Certificates, and explain the process of filing sales tax returns and the billing.
A representative from the Department of Labor will speak on the classification of workers (contracted, sales, etc).
A workshop for small business owners will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
For many new business owners, the everyday activities of a business can be a time-consuming and confusing process. Tax forms usually fall to the bottom of the priority list.
To help reduce business owners' time spent filing tax documents, and as part of a commitment of service to the business community, the Taxpayer Education Unit within the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) conducts workshops on Kansas Sales and Withholding tax.
