The American Red Cross urges eligible blood donors to observe National Preparedness Month in September by participating in local blood drives.
A Pratt community drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Pratt Community Building, 619 N. Main.
Walk-ins are always welcome, but donors by make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visiting redcrossblood.org.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.
"It's important to have a stable blood supply at all times to help ensure we are prepared to meet the needs of patients in every emergency," said Terri Dunnaway, CEO of the Red Cross Central Plains Blood Services Region. "It can take up to three days for donated blood to be tested, processed and made available for patients. It's the blood on the shelves when a disaster or emergency strikes that can save the day."
