The Pratt Recreation Department, in partnership with Cooper Tire, will be providing a free soccer ball to every youngster who signs up to participate in rec soccer this year.
According to Tom Jones of Cooper Tire, the Michelin corporation is providing the balls in return for certain promotional considerations. Larry Eisenhauer of the Pratt Rec Department said that 150 balls will be made available for distribution.
There are two sessions of soccer offered by Pratt Rec. In the fall K-1 ages play soccer, and in the spring, a larger session is offered for older kids too, K-6. Kathryn McAllister of Pratt Rec mentioned that the spring session features coaching by PCC soccer players.
The Pratt Rec officials said that there would definitely be enough balls to go around for all the K-1 kids in the fall, and that they thought everyone would be able to get a ball in the spring. But balls will be distributed in the spring on a first-registered, first-served basis if more than 150 youth sign up for soccer.
Along with the soccer ball, registrants will receive a certificate entitling the family to a discount on a new set of Michelin, Uniroyal or BF Goodrich tires. The discount will come in the form of a gift card if the family chooses to exercise their opportunity to buy new tires. For every set of tires purchased, Michelin will reward Pratt Rec with a $15 payment. Michelin will give Pratt Rec a minimum of $150, regardless of how many sets of tires are sold.
Larry Eisenhauer said the money would be useful to Pratt Rec in continuing to provide quality programming for the community.
The program is a win-win-win, as young soccer players will each get a free soccer ball of their own to practice with, their families get the opportunity to obtain a discount on a new set of quality tires, and the Pratt Recreation Department will be receive additional funds with which to work.
Pratt Rec thanks Cooper Tire and the Michelin Corporation for providing this program to help Pratt’s youth and their families.
