Roman Ibarra took 3rd (17:07), and once again led the Skyline Thunderbird boys crosscountry team to a strong showing at the Stafford Invitational last Thursday. The T-Bird boys took 2nd place (62) as a team in the 10-school event, being bested only by large 4A Andale (27).
The T-Bird girls had a respectable performance as well, placing fifth (79) with Andale (25) again winning the division. Brooke Fisher was the top finisher among the Skyline girls, crossing the line 4th in 16:34.
Tony Ibarra was also in the top 10 for the Skyline boys, finishing in 17:52. Other T-Bird results: Lucas Cason 28th 19:20; Colin Kumberg 29th 19:30; Khaleb Cason 36th 19:50; Joshua Moore 59th 22:55.
On the girls side, Kadi Richardson was 38th (20:27), Ascha Lee 39th (21:06) and Miranda Ghumm 41st (22:01).
In JV action, Madalyn Ownes took 15th (17:44) and Briana Neifert took 24th (21:37) for the girls. Boys JVs were Bryce McKennon 6th 19:56; Jared Shriver 25th 22:08; Garrett Bell 32nd 23:23; Kendall Davidson 38th 26:30; Matthew Giles 41st 27:51; Jarod DeWeese 45th 31:49.
The Skyline middlers also competed at Stafford. In 7th grade boys, Erik Ghumm was 2nd in 5:10. Tyler Tobin finished 3rd in 8th grade boys with 11:21. 7th grade girls were Adison Hampton 10th 6:56; Cassidy Corbet 11th 7:03.
The Skyline harriers next meet is at Larned on Thursday.
