Magdalene Ministry would like to extend a special invitation to the women in the Pratt area to attend their next fellowship meeting. Well-known author and speaker Gracia Burnham will be the featured speaker. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11at the Pratt Community College Carpenter Auditorium.

While missionaries in the Philippines, Gracia and her husband Martin were kidnapped by terrorists and spent the next 13 months as hostages in the Philippine jungle. Facing near starvation, constant exhaustion, frequent gun battles and cold-hearted murder, they did some intense soul-searching about a God who sometimes seemed to have forgotten them.

While in captivity, millions became aware of their plight due to their story being spotlighted in the national media, arousing many people to begin praying for them. On June 7, 2002, captivity ended for these two missionaries in a violent rescue that left Martin Burnham dead and Gracia wounded.

Following her captivity, Gracia wrote the New York Times bestselling book "In the Presence of My Enemies" and later her popular new book "To Fly Again."

Gracia currently resides in Rose Hill, and is the founder of the Martin and Gracia Burnham Foundation. She travels around the world telling her story of how faith triumphed over tragedy.

Magdalene Ministry is an interdenominational women's fellowship, sponsored by the Pratt Free Methodist Church. For more info contact Tricia Shippy 620-672-6835.
