Milton and Joy Brooks will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10, 2013.

Milton, of Blackshear, Ga., and the former Joy Jenlink, of Jet, Okla., were married at the Jet Christian Church on Oct. 10, 1943.

Milton was a school superintendent for many years, working in public school systems in Isabel, Harper, Cunningham and Blue Rapids before retiring from the Argonia school system in 1984. He also worked in other capacities in schools in both Oklahoma and Kansas during his long career.

Joy is a homemaker, mother and wife who supported Milton in his work and her children and grandchildren in what they were doing.

Their children are Jerry Lynn Brooks and Joyce (Lowell) Gridley, all of Cunningham. They have five grandchildren: Jeremy Brooks of Detroit, Mich., Lori Vallejo, San Diego, Calif., Kevin Brooks, Circle Pines, Minn., Steve Gridley, Pratt, and Susan Ward of Cunningham. They have 17 great-grandchildren.

They will celebrate their anniversary with an open house for friends and family from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the Cunningham Christian Church.
