Two people were injured in two-vehicle accident just before 1 p.m. on U.S. 54 at the Cairo blacktop at SE 100th Avenue.
Injured in the accident were Chase Ward, 19 of Cunningham and Kalei Henning, 18 of Kingman.
The accident happened when Ward was stopped in the eastbound lane in a 1997 Mercury Sable attempting to make a left turn onto NE 100th Avenue, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log web site.
A 2013 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Joseph Rimicci, 41 of Oak Brook Terrace, Ill., was also eastbound in the passing lane and because of heavy rain Rimicci did not see the Mercury, accoding to the KHP web site.
The Tahoe struck the rear of the Mercury causing heavy damage to the Mercury and damaging the passenger front side finder.
The Tahoe came to a stop upright, still eastbound, on the south shoulder while the Mercury came to a stop on the north shoulder facing east.
Ward was transported to Pratt Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle while Pratt County EMS transported his passenger Kalei Henning, 18 of Kingman, to Pratt Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were not available at press time.
Rimicci was not transported. All three were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
