There wasn’t much mystery about the outcome of the match Tuesday when Pratt Community College traveled to Hutchinson. The Blue Dragons had taken 3 of 4 sets from the Beavers when the squads met at PCC earlier this season.
This time, the outcome was even more one-sided as Hutch dispatched the Lady Beavers rather easily in straight sets. Scores from the match were 25-15; 25-13; 25-13.
HCC controlled the net all night, and the PCC hitters had trouble getting through the Dragon blocks. The Lady Beavers were not able to put many points up on clean spikes all evening. Early on, the Beavers managed some tip shots, but then Hutch tightened up their floor coverage and even that scoring method was denied Pratt.
HCC’s big hitters took over the match in sets 2 & 3. Hutch (20-9, 12-2) service miscues allowed PCC a point or two here and there or the score could have been really ugly.
Pratt falls to 6-21 (2-11) with the loss. They will wind up the regular season by hosting Seward County Thursday at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena, first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
