Gertrude Eleanor Sobba Stevens, 90, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at South Wind Hospice House in Pratt. She was born February 5, 1923 in Sawyer, Kansas to Edward and Edith (Baker) Sobba. She married Donald George Stevens on December 16, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas. Together they had five children; George Stevens and wife Karyl, Pratt, Phyllis Stevens Saly and husband Mike from Conroe, Texas, Marilyn Stevens and husband Dusty, Pratt, Donna Stevens Huff and husband Dennis, Preston, Alan Stevens and wife Marcie, Pratt. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Dana Saly Young, Jessica Siemens, Shelby Stevens, Kara Saly, Derek Stevens, Mindy Stevens Miller, Kelly Huff, Steven Huff, Kelsy Huff, Arielle Stevens, Jared Donald (JD) Stevens, Kristina Moore and three great-grandchildren: Harrison Young, Jordyn Young and Saylor Stevens.

Gertrude was a lifelong resident of Pratt County and parishioner of Sacred Heart. She served as a member of the Women Altar Society, Ministry of Praise and Daughters of Isabella and on the Finance and Funeral Committees of Sacred Heart. She was a Girl Scout Leader in the early 1960s. Having family around was her greatest joy in life. Gardening, cooking, traveling and sharing her traveling experiences were some of her interests. She was a member of the Pratt Garden Club, holding many offices and sharing her flowers for many occasions. EHU and Valley View Development were some other areas of endeavors.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 6 to 8. A vigil with rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Pratt. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
