Dorotha Mae Wendt, 97, of Inman passed away peacefully at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

Dorotha was born June 28, 1916 in Wellsford, the daughter of Mattie Jane (Brockman) and Wesley Andrew Hibler. She attended and graduated from Groveland Grade School, Groveland, Kan.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, where she served her church by helping with weddings and funerals and was a leader of the Women's Guild for many years.

Dorotha was a homemaker and waitressed and Kelly's Cafe and then the McPherson Sale Barn, and she helped her husband on the farm and with the livestock.

She was a member of the Groveland Homemakers Extension Unit and Inman Senior Center. She loved to fish, dance, quit and spend time with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards. Dorotha was a hard worker and a true farm wife.

Dorotha was united in marriage to Clarence Larson on July 23, 1932, at McPherson. He died May 28, 1953. On Oct. 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to Oscar Wendt at Windom. He died Oct. 24, 1988.

Surviving family members include her children, Larry and wife Linda Larson, Inman, Wayne Larson, Virginia Beach, Va., and Barbara and husband Richard Becker, Pratt; stepdaughters, Shirley Smock and husband John, Parr, Texas, and Carol Hall, Wichita; a sister, Mercedes Stovall, Pacific, Mo.; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Dorotha was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Elsie Krooehnig, Pearl Messe and Marcella Harness.

Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at McPherson Cemetery, with the Rev. Tim Leaf officiating.
