Alva L. Glenn, 89, of Hutchinson passed away Oct. 29, 2013, at the Hospice House, Hutchinson.

He was born Dec. 25, 1923 in Cunningham, the son of Wm. Hugh and Julia (Mull) Glenn.

He had worked for the Lincoln-Mercury and Ford dealerships in Pratt and retired from Consolidated Rebuilders, Hutchinson. He had attended Crossroads Christian Church, Hutchinson.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II.

On Oct. 12, 1946, he married Ella M. Shumway in Kingman. She passed away April 9, 1990. He later married Mary Cutting Sept. 1, 1990 in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry E. and Carol Glenn, Wichita; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela K. and Leslie Jenkins, Hermatige, Mo.; and a sister, Beulah Thompson, Andover.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, five stepchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov 2, at Crossroads Christian Church, Hutchinson, with Wayne Pittman presiding. Burial will follow in the Turon Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice House in care of the funeral home.
