LMS 7th and 8th grade boys and girls basketball are underway.
LMS 7th grade girls began their season with a 13-10 defeat to Kingman, but then rebounded with a win, crushing Chaparral on Thursday, 33-2. 8th grade girls also lost to Kingman 31-18, but they won in exciting fashion over Chaparral. Trailing by one point as time was running out, Breanna Bosley nailed a jumper at the buzzer to give the Greenback girls the 23-22 victory. Ivy Stivers was high-point girl for LMS7 against Chappy with 8. Jenna Fincham and Abby Lloyd each added 6. Brittney Clemons had 5 points to lead LMS8, while Bosley, Julieann McClain and Makenzie Baird each added 4 in a balanced attack. In boys action, 7th grade A handled Chaparral 27-18. The Greenbacks exploded for 13 points in the second quarter to build a nice lead at halftime. Zach Shanline had 6 of his game-high 10 points in Q2 to pace the Greenback effort. LMS7 handled the ball well, draining the final 1:30 off the clock running the 4-corners. Kaden Evert had 6, Travis Theis 4, Brett Winsor 3, Caden Blankenship 2 and Grant Bolen 2 to round out LMS7 scoring.
