  • The Pilot Express is owned by the City of Pratt and managed by the Pratt Pilot Club.
    The Pilot Club purchased a used miniature train in 2000 and for five years, renovation went forward as fund-raising projects allowed. The train went on track in Sixth Street Park in 2005.
    More than 2,100 people rode the train this year during regular summer hours, at reserved parties and at special occasions.
    Participants in an educational Brain Train event ride for free after attending sessions. Western Day in September attracts 275 to 300 riders, according to train chair Kay Sewell. The Spook Express is the largest event, with about 500 riders this year.
    The last event of the year is the Holiday Express from 2 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 24.
    Proceeds are given back to the community in the form of grants to organizations. The club presented two grants this year for a total of $990.
