  • Icy roads were the cause of a two accidents approximately two miles west of the town of Zenith that sent at least one person to Stafford County Hospital, Thursday.
An accident report has not yet been released, but information obtained indicates that two vehicles were involved in the initial accident at approximately 4:30 p.m. A second accident occurred later when another vehicle hit one of the rescue units at the scene and slid into the ditch.
A coating of ice made walking on the paved road at the accident scene difficult. U.S. Hwy 50 east of the city of Stafford was extremely slick while roadways west of the city were wet but not overly icy.
Friday will be cloudy all day with areas of light snow in the west. Some freezing drizzle in south central Kansas will change to light snow before ending late in the day. No significant ice accumulation is expected.
