The funeral for Clarence Boland, age 101, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, Jefferson, Okla.

The Rev. Michelle McCarty will officiate. Burial will be in the Hawley, Okla., cemetery with the Rev. Gary Lilley conducting the graveside rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Pond Creek, Okla.

Aaron Clarence Boland was born May 28, 1912, in Grant County, Okla., to Garrett William and Emma Viana Boland and went to meet his Lord on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at his home in Enid, Okla. He grew up in the Hawley, Okla., area and attended the Sandy Point School. The family moved to the Kremlin area and later to a farm near Medford.

He married Bessie M. Long in Valley Center, Kan. on June 6, 1936. In 2013 they celebrated 77 years of marriage.

They farmed southwest of Medford and raised cattle, hogs, sheep and poultry. In 1980 they moved from the farm to Pond Creek where they lived until moving to Enid in 2004.

Clarence worked off the farm for Morgan Hatchery and Feuquay Elevator. He enjoyed

working with and trading labor with his neighbors. He was a member of the Jefferson

United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and in other offices. He served on

the Jefferson school board and was an active member of the Nash and Pond Creek senior

citizen groups.

He is survived by his wife; sons Dan (Norma) of Bethany, Okla., A. C. (Nancy) of Pratt, Jerry (Flora) of Enid, Okla.; and daughter Joyce McKerley (Ray) of Bixby, Okla. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four nieces and five nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, an infant sister, a granddaughter and an infant great-grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jefferson United Methodist Church or to the Hawley Cemetery Association.
