Because every child deserves a place to belong, Stafford's Project Belong is moving to the larger accommodations
Because every child deserves a place to belong, Project Belong is moving to the larger accommodations of Stafford’s Henderson House B&B and retreat center.
Project Belong was formed in 2008 as a ministry within a local Stafford church to recruit, train, and support foster and adoptive families.
Brandon and Missy Hoffman began their adoption journey in 1997 as newlyweds who wanted to grow their family through adoption. Little did they know that it would become such an amazing story.
“We are so excited to be able to minister full-time to share the cause of children in need with the churches of Kansas and beyond,” Hoffman said. “God has blessed our lives and taught us many lessons over the past 15 years through our involvement in foster care and adoption.”
Now after 16 years, the Hoffman’s have 12 children, ages 8 to 32, ten of whom were adopted from Kansas foster care. But the size of their family is not the only part that has grown over the years.
Project Belong will be moving their ministry to the well-known Henderson House B&B retreat center.
The offices are moving now with plans to take over the ownership and operation of the retreat center down the road.
“It will be a big deal,” said current B&B owner, Clare Moore. “Henderson Inn would remain a B&B but under the ownership of Project Belong. They will use it as a training center and retreat center and continue to operate it as a B&B and Retreat Center for public and community use.”
There are currently over 900 children in Kansas waiting for a loving forever family according to the group’s website.
“There are far more churches in Kansas than there are waiting children,” Hoffman said. “If [every] Church will stand up and get involved, answering the call of James 1:27, we could provide homes for every waiting child. It would make it possible for there to be a waiting list of families rather than waiting children.
Project Belong will be holding an open house in their new offices in the B&B from 5-8 p.m., Thursday Dec. 12.
