Marietta Gilmore, 88, died Dec. 21, 2013 at Norton, after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for several years. She was born January 19, 1925 at Cairo, Kan. the daughter of Leslie (Judd) L. and Mabel Dale (McGaffin) Fitzsimmons.

At the age of 19, she married Richard Leslie Webster. From this union two children were born, Richard David and Wendy Eileen. In 1960, she married William Edward Gilmore and they shared their lives making their home in Pratt until after Bill's death in 2001. She resided at Parkwood Village and later moved to the Andbe Home in Norton to be closer to her daughter.

Marietta "Mary" spent her childhood in Cairo. She attended rural schools and graduated from Pratt High School. She worked at a laundry mat, a chiropractor's office, as a homemaker and as a domestic helper for several elderly Pratt residents during her working years. She had many skills: gardening, candy making, cake baking, and sewing. She could do most anything she set her mind to. Her passions were gardening, canning and pickling her homegrown produce. She also enjoyed quilting, which she did for others for fun. She was a devoted daughter as she made the trips to Pratt to Cairo, caring for her mother for many years. She was a cat lover and owned many favorites throughout the years, along with caring for many strays that chose her.

Mary is survived by a son Richard David "Dave" Webster and his wife Ann, Great Bend; a daughter Wendy (Webster) Sloan and her husband Jon, Norton; six grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother "Jack" Fitzsimmons, and her husband Bill Gilmore.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, with Pastor John Havens presiding.
