We’re ringing in the New Year by providing digital materials for checkout @ your library. What does this mean? It means that you are now able to check out eBooks, eAudio Books, and eMagazines through the library. Just go to our website, www.prattpubliclibrary.org, click on Online Resources and follow the prompts to get to Sunflower eLibrary where you can check-out eBooks and eAudio Books or Zinio to check-out eMagazines.

December was another busy month at the library with story times, craft classes, and after-school activities. Remember we have story times each week for 0-2 years plus mom/caregiver on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and 3-5 year olds on Monday and Thursday at 10 a.m. Twice a month (first and third Thursdays of the month) we have after-school activities for kindergarten through fourth grades at 4 p.m. Every Tuesday we have after-school activities for 5th-8th grades at 3:45. On the second Tuesday of the month we have adult craft classes. January’s class is making napkin wreaths. Call the library at 672-3041 for more information about all these classes.

Looking forward to January we are adding new adult programming each week. Every Tuesday at 7 p.m. there will be a program or activity at the library for adults. After Hours @ Your Library begins on Jan. 7 with an eBook Reader Class taught by Mendi Egging. She will provide assistance on learning to use your device with Sunflower eLibrary to check out eBooks and eAudio Books.

Jan. 14 will be our regularly scheduled Second Tuesday Craft Class. This month we’ll be making napkin wreaths. There is a $4 fee for supplies for this class.

On Jan. 21 the Pratt Area Writer’s Society will meet at the library and these local authors will discuss their books and books-in-progress. They will also be doing a book signing this evening.

Jan. 28 is the first session of a new book discussion group at the library. Suzan Patton, USD 382 superintendent, and former English literature teacher, will lead a three-session book discussion group. The first selection for the “Novels and Dames” book discussion group is THE CHAPERONE by Laura Moriarty.

Remember that the silent auction of furniture from the courthouse library runs through February. Stop by the library to see the catalog for this auction or check out the Silent Auction page on our website. Items are displayed for two weeks and bids are taken only while the items are on display.
