John Leslie Fitzsimmons Jr., 58, died Dec. 23, 2013, at his home in rural Pawnee Rock, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 28, 1955, at Kingman to John Leslie and Ella Marie Tetrick Fitzsimmons. A longtime rural Pawnee Rock resident, coming from McPherson, he was a quality systems manager for Size Wise Wheelchairs of Kansas, Hays. He attended St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, and was the leader and founder of the Dirt Dawgs.

On Dec 2, 1983, he married Loretta Kay Stetler at Great Bend. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include: his mother, Ella Marie Born, McPherson; a son, John Matthew Fitzsimmons and wife Megan, Larned; a daughter, Leslie Nicole Fitzsimmons and her beloved Chris Pala, Brisbane, Australia; two sisters, Susan Fitzsimmons and husband Chris Anderson, Lindsborg, and Cindy Ball and husband Mike, Andover; a granddaughter, Zoe Fitzsimmons, Larned; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Pam Stetler, Hoisongton; nieces, Heather Wooten and Miah Ball; and nephews, James Anderson, Will Anderson, Broc Ball, Cody Stetler, Zach Stetler and Michael Stetler.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, James Lee Fitzsimmons; and mother- and father-in-law, Alice and John Stetler; and his brother-in-law, Johnnie Mike Stetler.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz. Vigil service is at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, with Father Ultan Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Golden Belt Cemetery, Great Bend. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
