  • Betty Elaine Bennett Schulte was called home Dec. 29, 2013. She began her journey in Byers, Feb. 21, 1951, the adopted daughter of Kenneth and Ellen Bennett. She treasured her childhood full of precious memories with family, friends, and church.
    Growing up in Byers, then Pratt, she met and married Edward Joseph Schulte in 1967. They were blessed with 45 years of marriage.
    Betty gave her life to Christ at a young age and faithfully served our Lord through her many talents and gifts. She delighted in playing the piano, passing along a love of music to all of her children and grandchildren. Many recall her talents of baking and cooking that she blessed so many with over the years.
    At the center of her life was the home and love she shared for her children. Betty cherished her nine grandchildren, blessing them with her love and passion for Christ.
    Her last several years on earth she valiantly fought many health issues that restricted her physical person. It was during these years her faith carried her forward and she continued her service through prayer and as inspiration to those around her.
    Betty spent her life in service to Christ and family, she faithfully loved and cared for so many.
    She is survived by her husband, Edward Schulte, Yukon, Okla.; a son, Timothy Edward and wife Cherie Schulte, Salina, and their children, Sarah Elaine, 17, Hannah Elizabeth, 16, Ethan Wesley, 11, and Bethany Grace, 9; a daughter, Lora Elaine Schulte French, Yukon, and her son, Joshua Tyler, 20; a daughter, Amy Beth and husband Charles Holley, Yukon, and their children, Allison Ellen, 18, April Maxine, 16, Noah John Winston, 10, and Paisley Elizabeth, 5; and a host of extended family and dear friends
    She was preceded in death by infant son Kenneth Wayne in 1972; and her parents Kenneth Bennett in 1993 and Ellen Bennett in 2001.
    The family wished to extend heartfelt appreciation to the many who called upon and loved Betty through her life and illness.
    Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the INTEGRIS Foundation to support research and advances in neuromuscular disease. Final resting place will be Byers Cemetery, Byers, Kan.
