  • On Thursday night against Kingman, a team they handled earlier in the season, the Lady Greenbacks took care of business with a convincing 48-30 win. Leading 11-4 after the first period, Pratt extended their margin to 27-18 at intermission. After the break, Hailey Hook scored 7 points early in the 3rd quarter to help lift PHS to a 41-26 advantage heading into the home stretch. In Q3 Kingman had hung around some by going hard to the offensive glass, but Destani Garten got an “and-1” off an in-bounds play and Stonie Flemming hit a jumper from the high post to restore Lady Green’s lead. In the final frame, Pratt became deliberate on offense, burning clock. They killed the final minute in the 4-corners and claimed the 48-30 victory. In a balanced offensive effort, Jenson Maydew had 12 points, Haylie Hook 10, and Destani Garten and Breann Becker each 9. “We did a good job defensively. We guarded the ball well,” head coach Emmanuel Adigun said. “We have to find a way to limit other teams’ second-chance points, but overall, we played well.” In Friday night’s game against Halstead, Lady Green seemed sluggish and perhaps a bit overconfident at the outset. The Lady Dragons were able to post a 13-11 lead after the first period. The teams played even up in Q2, which sent the teams to intermission with Halstead leading 22-20. Pratt came out of the locker room with a renewed sense of purpose, as exemplified by Bre Becker getting a steal and going coast-to-coast for an “and-1” onthe third quarter’s first play. On the next possession, Hailey Hook pushed the ball up the floor for a lay-up and suddenly the Greenbacks were ahead 25-22. It was a lead they never relinquished. They d’d up better in the second half. Halstead’s Sydney Beat scored 15 in the first half, but she was held to just 5 after the break. Lady Green began rebounding better, as Paige Bailey got a Windex bucket. Once they got ahead, they just turned it on. After leading 44-31 after Q3, they ended up winning 58-39.
