Tabor College music major Krista Neifert will be giving her junior piano recital on March 6 at the Tabor College Chapel at 7 p.m.
The daughter of Mike and Susan Neifert, from Pratt, she will be performing “Notturno” by Charles Griffes and “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin.
“The Notturno is a beautiful piece,” said Neifert. “It is from the impressionistic era and has a very dreamlike quality to it. I love being able to bring out the emotion of this piece.”
She added this about her second piece.
“Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin is so much fun to play! It is by far one of my favorite composers and is concert jazz at its finest.”
Neifert has experienced a transformation in her mind, body and soul since leaving home and coming to Tabor.
“A lot of this is due to the amazing music faculty,” Neifert added. “They have pushed and encouraged me to pursue excellence in music and they have helped prepare me to teach music to the best of my ability.”
Neifert is pursuing degrees in music education, music/piano pedagogy, plus biblical and religious studies. After graduation, she plans to teach music .
“God has created so much beauty in His world,” Neifert said. “I love that God has given me the talent to be able to glorify, thank and praise Him through my music.”
