A 19-year-old Pratt man was arrested early Friday morning in connection with a burglary case in Pratt County.

A 19-year-old Pratt man has been arrested in conjunction with a burglary that is part of several burglaries and a stolen car the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office worked for 36 hours Thursday and Friday.

Landon Hlavachick was booked into Pratt County Jail at 3 a.m. on Friday, March 28 on one count of aggravated burglary and one count of criminal trespass. His bond has been set at $35,000.

Events began just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 27 when a 2000 Mercury was discovered abandoned in a field just north of Iuka, said Pratt County Sheriff Vernon Chinn.

Shortly after the vehicle was discovered, it was reported stolen from a residence northeast of Iuka.

Later that day around 5:30 p.m. sheriff’s officers investigated another burglary about seven miles north of Cullison.

Then, around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, sheriff’s officers responded to residential burglary about eight miles north of Cullison where the homeowner discovered the suspect in the residence.

A deputy quickly took Hlavachick into custody and booked him into Pratt County Jail.

From information gathered from this burglary, sheriff’s officers followed footprints and tire tracks from the burglary eight miles north of Cullison and located the stolen car that was reported first thing on the morning of March 27. A 2007 Lincoln was found approximately 12 miles west and eight miles north of Pratt, Chinn said.

Sheriff’s officers continued to follow leads and discovered another burglary and notified the owners of the building eight miles north and nine miles west of Pratt.

Many stolen items were recovered while tracking the suspect on foot from one scene to another. These burglaries are still under investigation and further charges or arrests could be made.

Sheriff’s officers worked almost 36 hours non-stop on these cases. They followed a lot of leads and did a lot of backcountry tracking, Chinn said.

No victims are being identified at this time and no other information is available.
