On April 26, the Pratt Community College Foundation will honor the 2014 Outstanding Alumnus, Dr. Shirle Ibeawuchi. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Riney Student Conference Center with a light brunch followed by a recognition ceremony. All 2014 graduating students who have received named scholarships and the Above and Beyond scholars will also attend.

Dr. Ibeawuchi graduated from Pratt Community College in 1952. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Morris College, a master’s degree from Fort Hays State University and a Ph. D. from the University of Kansas. She is an author and a teacher, and continues to work with Brighton Hall Academy, the school she founded in Owerri, Nigeria.

“This ceremony gives us a chance to celebrate the achievements of one of our alumni, as well as recognize our current scholars who are also making the college proud,” said PCC Foundation Director Ann Ruder. “Dr. Ibeawuchi is a remarkable woman and an inspiration to those just starting on their personal and professional journeys.”

The recognition brunch is part of a celebration weekend that includes the annual scholarship dinner and auction that is used to raise funds for PCC Foundation scholarships. This year’s dinner and auction will be held on April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Pratt County 4-H building. The theme is “Under the Big Top,” and tickets are available for $25 for individuals and $40 for couples by calling 620-450-2179.
