  • The Skyline girls track team used their depth to capture the team title at the Pretty Prairie Quintangular on Thursday. Scoring in 16 of 17 events, the Skyline girls amassed 132 points to run away with the girls division. Their nearest competitor, Fairfield, had just 72. The T-Bird boys had a nice day, too, coming in second with 77 behind only host Pretty Prairie (141.)
Jessica DeWeese got three gold medals to lead the Lady Thunderbirds: 100m (12.97); 200m (27.2) and long jump (16-5). She also added a silver in the discus (88-9).
Brooke Fisher won the two-mile (13:18) and took second in the mile (6:08). Taylor DeWeese bested the high jump field, clearing 4-4. Mycha Owens heaved the javelin 84-11 to take that event.
The Lady T-Bird 4x800 relay also finished 1st (13:06). Abby Giles, Bailey DeClue, McKenzie Cason and Miranda Ghumm each took 2 laps in that race.
Another highlight that illustrated the Skyline girls’ depth was the Lady T-Birds taking four places in the triple jump. Kamryn Stark (29-1.5), Taylor DeWeese (29-0), Betsy Giles (28-2.5) and Madalyn Owens (27-5) went 2nd - 5th places respectively.
