The Pratt High School golf team played in the Larned Invitational on Tuesday, placing near the middle of the pack— 5th out of 10 teams. PHS totaled 372 points for a team score while host Larned won the event posting a team total of 321.
Individually, Spencer Sullivan played well for the Greenbacks, carding an 84 that was good for a 5th place medal. Tyler Skaggs narrowly missed a top-10 finish. His 87 placed him 12th in the tightly bunched field.
Other scores for Pratt were Logan Chadd 27th 99; Hunter Walker 33rd 102; Dakota Hankins 51st 124.
“Spencer has played really well in the last 2 tournaments,” head coach Steve Landry said. “He is still struggling a little on the greens but was a little better this week. With his iron play, once he shores up his putting I look for him to break 80 in the upcoming tournaments.”
“Tyler was as good as he has ever been off the tee and on his approach shots,” Landry continued. “Again the putter got in his way as far as posting a lower score. I was proud of the way he battled and didn't give up. Tyler is another one that I see posting a sub-80 round in upcoming tournaments.”
“ Logan got his first taste of varsity competition and I thought played pretty well. With experience and continued work at practice he has the potential to really help us come League and Regional time,” Landry added. “Dakota also has to find more consistency in order to post lower scores. I really like his attitude. He knows exactly what he needs to work on to get better. We will hopefully get those things ironed out over the next few weeks on the range.”
The Frog linksters will be off now until Thursday May 1 when they travel to Russell.
