Irene Fern Shaw, 95, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. She was born on Feb. 7, 1919 at Lake City, the daughter of Albert John and Ruth (Fulton) Redwine. On Feb. 16, 1941, she married Owen Shaw at Lake City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1998.

Irene helped organize the ‘55’ Club in Sawyer in 1955. She was the administrator at Caremore Haven in Greensburg from 1965-1984. After retiring as administrator, she and Owen moved to Pratt. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, Martha Guild, and the Lunch Bunch in Pratt. Irene was a member of the Kansas Professional Nursing Home Administrators Association.

Survivors include three sons, James (Marjorie) Shaw of Wichita, John Shaw of Rogers, Ark., and Rocky Shaw of Pratt; two daughters, Marilyn (Jerry) Dillingham of Haysville, and Iola (Jerry) Corbin of Pratt; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Erma (Martin) Potter of Galena.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Owen; three brothers, Leon, Herold and M.C. Redwine; a sister, Eveleen Gerringer; and a great-grandson, Alex Wicklund.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the mortuary with the Rev. Jan Blasi presiding. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
