  • The Skyline boys and girls track teams each got third place in the 13-school Norwich Invitational last Friday. The boys piled up 70 points while the girls finished with 64.5. “It was a great meet, even with the wind,” head coach Summer Younie expressed. “We had personal bests up and down the line-up.”
    Among those T-Birds setting PRs were high jumpers Dustin Weber 5-8, Josh Moore 5-0, Brady McComb 4-10 and Taylor DeWeese 4-8. In throws, Daniel Hacker PRd in javelin and shot put. Blake Lee also set a new personal standard in shot. High hurdlers Dustin Weber and Betsy Giles also hit new marks.
    Although not getting any gold medals on the day, the Thunderbird boys scored in 13/18 events, spreading their points out among every category of events. The T-Birds tallied in every relay. “Our relays ran well,” Coach Younie acknowledged.

    The Lady Birds collected two golds on the day: Jessica DeWeese in the 100m (12.42) and the 4x800 relay (Madalyn Owens, Abby Giles, Bailey DeClue, Kamryn Stark) 12:01. “I was excited about our girls 4x8,” Coach Younie mentioned.
    Jessica DeWeese also picked up a pair of silvers in the 200m (28.82) and the long jump (15-2.5).
