Bread of Life Community Kitchen can use your support. This month I'm raising money for the organization.
If you missed last weekend’s Hunger Run/Walk to benefit the Bread of Life Community Kitchen, you can still support the organization’s worthwhile goal of feeding the hungry in Pratt.
This May, I’ll be Biking for Bread … on the dirt. You can back this fundraising effort by making a pledge per mile or simply by donating a set amount to Bread of Life Community Kitchen.
Only miles ridden on Pratt County dirt will count toward the total—not commuting or other road rides. Bicycling every mile of dirt in the county road system has been an ongoing goal for the past year or so. The county has over 1,100 miles of county-maintained dirt roads. Someday, I’ll have ridden them all (I may have to walk the bike down some stretches of especially sandy road).
I anticipate riding around 200 miles of local dirt roads in May 2014, but weather—rain at least—may impact this total. Most rides will happen after work on the weekdays. Thus far, I have ridden 15.4 dirt miles on 5/5 and 16.58 miles on 5/6.
Any amount of donation is welcome from a penny per mile on up. For example, if you pledge 6 cents per mile, your donation would be $12 for 200 miles ridden. A pledge of a quarter per mile would equal a $50 for 200 miles. If I ride more—or less—miles, then your donation will adjust accordingly.
Support the Bread of Life Community Kitchen by e-mailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your pledge per mile.
A flat donation may be mailed to, noting Biking for Bread in the memo line:

Per mile pledges should also be sent to this address. I will e-mail or telephone you with total miles ridden sometime after June 1.
Bread of Life Community Kitchen serves a vital need in Pratt County and can use your tax-deductible donation to help feed the hungry.
Thanks to all of those who have already made a pledge.
