  • The Pratt High School softball team traveled to Kingman Tuesday with the CKL championship on the line. A pair of victories would seal the deal for Lady Green, and that’s just what they got— 17-0 in the opener and 8-0 in the nightcap.
“The girls came to take care of things today,” noted Mike Forshee, PHS head coach. “It took us a couple of innings to get going, but from the third inning on they played focused.”
Brooke Theis led off the third with a double. Lauren Rambat doubled, and Bailey Gillig, Bre Becker and Savanah Buntemeyer all singled in the 3-run uprising.
That opened the floodgates as Lady Green pushed 14 runs across in their next two at-bats to club the Eagles into submission. Dakota Jones doubled to begin the fourth frame. Theis singled to drive her in. Rambat and Brittnee Hill followed with singles, then Gillig cleared the bases— pounding a round-tripper over the LCF wall to put Pratt up 7-0.
But Lady Green was not yet done in the fourth inning. They tallied four more times on singles by Becker, Buntemeyer, and Kelsey Smith-Potter; Jones’ second double of the inning; and a single by Theis before the side was retired. 11-0 PHS after four.
The beat went on in the fifth. Paige Huber doubled, Bailey Batman singled her home. Becker, Buntemeyer and Jones singled and Theis and Destani Garten each drove in runs to account for the final score 17-0 in five innings.
Brittnee Hill picked up her 12th win on the season, fanning 8 Eagles, walking 2 and scattering 6 hits.
Hill picked up the win in the nightcap as well, setting down an amazing 14 Kingmans via the whiff, walking none and yielding a mere 2 hits. “Brittnee was dominating today,” Coach Forshee observed. “She had great effort behind her on defense.” Lady Green erred just once on the day.
Pratt got off to a quicker start in the game two, putting up a 5-spot in the first inning to seize control of the match. Hill singled, and her pinch runner Saige Twiner scored on a Becker single. Buntemeyer singled, to be followed by back-to-back doubles from Smith-Potter and Jones. Brooke Theis capped the inning with an RBI single and Pratt was up 5-0.
The Frogs added on in the 6th inning. Smith-Potter singled and came around on Jones triple into the LF corner. Theis singled Jones home. In the 7th, Gillig singled, stole second and scored on Morgan Schmidt’s single. The game ended 8-0 PHS.
“Offensively, we hit the ball all over the field— with 10 extra base hits,” Forshee remarked. “Contributions from a lot of girls made it that much more enjoyable.”
