  • The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association is holding its annual All-Star Game Saturday June 28 at Salina. The event is of local interest for two reasons: (1) recent Pratt High School graduate Jenson Maydew will be a member of the girls’ White Team, and (2) Pratt Community College head men’s basketball coach Jesse Shaw will be honored as Men’s Juco Coach of the Year for 2014.
The game will be at 6:05 on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University at Mabee Gym. There will also be a boys’ game following the girls’ game. Both contests will be broadcast on TV on Channel 22.
Players in the games are all college-bound athletes. Maydew, a 5’10” forward, will be playing next year at Missouri Southern. There are 12 players on each male and female team, for a total of just 48 athletes from all over the State of Kansas, so it is quite an honor to be selected to play in the game.
PCC coach Jesse Shaw will receive his award at the KBCA reception to be held at 1:30 Saturday prior to the games at Sam’s Chapel located in Pioneer Hall. Shaw is being honored for coaching the Beavers men’s basketball team to the Region VI title and the National Tournament in Hutchinson this past season.
