Cledrey Del Hannan Lewis passed peacefully July 9, 2014 at South Wind Hospice in Pratt, at the age of 77. She was born Dec. 8, 1936 in Pratt to Dot and Dude Hannan.

The third child of seven, she went to school at Wellsford Grade School, and graduated from Haviland High School in 1954. She then went to college at Pratt Community College. Franklin Dale Lewis and Cledrey met at the wedding of lifelong friends and would eventually marry. They were married Aug. 27, 1955.

After being honorably discharged from military service, Dale went back to Boeing Aircraft Corporation and the family moved to Wichita. Cledrey and her family lived in a number of states since 1955 including Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Washington and Louisiana. In 1979, the Lewises moved back to Ponca City, Okla. and built a house near Lake Ponca, on land claimed by Dale’s grandfather in the Oklahoma Land Rush.

Dale retired from the pipeline in Kingfisher, Okla. in 1993 and he and Cledrey then moved to their farm in Kansas and raised cattle and wheat. Cledrey always made the family houses feel like home. She also treated neighbors and friends with a subtle helping hand and never asked for anything in return. She was always active in the church in whatever community she was in and she also served as a Cub Scout Leader for many years. In Oklahoma City she was part of a book club.

Cledrey will be greeted in heaven by her husband and parents; a daughter-in-law, Linda Lewis; and a grandson, Cody Lewis.

She is survived by her children, Greg Lewis of Chandler, Ariz., Cristy Harts of Haviland, Kevin Lewis of Haviland, Doug Lewis of Oklahoma City, and Janelle Sexter of Leawood, Kan. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Audrey McMullen, Becky Stonebreaker, Mary Patee and Frankie Graham and brothers, Rodney Hannan and Vic Hannan.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11 at the United Methodist Church in Haviland, with the Rev. Donna Voteau and Dr. Sheryl White presiding. Burial will be in Boles Cemetery, Haviland.
