A fast moving storm moved through Pratt County Monday with 80 plus mph winds in the Cullison area that brought down power poles.
A fast moving storm passed through the Pratt area Monday with some localized strong winds at 80 mph that caused damage in the Cullison area.
Ninnescah Electric Cooperative reported five poles down one mile north and two miles west of Cullison. A tree branch from eight to 10 inches across was also reported in that area.
From that damage, the estimated wind speed when the storm went through at 3:52 p.m. was between 80 to 85 mph, said Tim Burke, meteorologist for the Dodge City National Weather Service.
Two miles east of Pratt, a sheriff’s officer estimated a 60 mph wind gust at 4:31 p.m., Burke said.
Rain amounts were small ranging from 0.70 inches in Pratt to 0.29 inches at the Pratt Regional Airport to 0.45 inches in Springvale Township to no rain at Sawyer.
