If you went to the 4-H Hand Pet Show thinking you were going to see some kids with their dogs and cats, you’ve got another think coming.
Again this year, the 4-H’ers showed their pets to the residents of Parkwood Village. Each contestant showed his/her pet, talked about it and then answered questions from the judge regarding the pet’s care. 4-H’ers are judged in part on their knowledge about their pet.
Pets this year ran the gamut— everything from ferrets, guinea pigs and hamsters to snakes, geckos and hissing cockroaches. The largest pet was a pot-bellied pig, which was probably as big as all the other pets combined.
Once again, the Parkwood Village residents enjoyed seeing the pets as much as the kids enjoyed showing them.
