  • With 37 teams entered in seven divisions in the MAYB tournament over the weekend, tournament director Doug Will had quite the task to get everything scheduled and running smoothly. But the veteran Will was again able to get it done.

  • With 37 teams entered in seven divisions in the MAYB tournament over the weekend, tournament director Doug Will had quite the task to get everything scheduled and running smoothly. But the veteran Will was again able to get it done.
    Games were scheduled at three different venues— Pratt High School, the Blythe Center and the Municipal Building— and ran from early Saturday morning until completion Sunday afternoon. There were divisions for 5th-6th girls, 7th girls, 8th-10th girls, 11th-12th girls, 4th-5th boys, 7th-8th boys and high school boys.
    Local entries included seven teams from USD 382 and one from Skyline. Eight teams came from Oklahoma, three from Hutchinson, and a pair each from Hoisington and Haven and Hugoton. Garden City, Bucklin, Spearville and Quinter were each represented by a team as well. There were six “All-Star” teams comprised of players from northwest Kansas, Wichita and Salina. Local results:
    7th girls: Pratt Jr Lady Greenbacks: 1-2 in pool; lose to Summer Mix in semis; beat Macksville for 3rd
    8th-10th girls: Pratt Lady Greenbacks: 0-3 in pool; lose to High Plains Hoopsters.
    11th-12th girls: Pratt Lady Green: 2-1 in pool; defeat Quinter; lose to Dream Team 12 to take 2nd
    7th-8th boys: Pratt Gators: 0-2 in pool; lose to Haven; defeat Skyline Thunder to take 5th. Skyline Thunder: 0-2 in pool; lose to RC All-Stars; lose to Pratt Gators
    HS boys: Pratt Gold: 1-2 in pool; defeat Haven; lose to A-C Select; lose to Runners. Pratt Green: 2-0 in pool; defeat Waynoka; lose to Mid Kansas; lose to AC Select to take 4th. Average Joes: 0-2 in pool; defeat Wichita Defenders; lose to Mid Kansas; lose to Waynoka.
