Pratt Community College signee Trevon Evans named Best Boys Basketball Player in the 2014 Catchy Awards.
Pratt Community College signee Trevon Evans has just been named Best Boys’ Basketball Player in the 2014 Catchy Awards.
The awards are sponsored by CatchItKansas.com, a statewide news and media source for high school athletics, and nominees represented 47 schools in 28 different categories.
The public cast 12,500 votes in an online poll, and Evans received more than half of all votes cast.
“Evans dominated the category just as much as he dominated the sport in 2013-14,” said a news release from CatchItKansas. “Evans has been a mainstay of the top players in the state the past three seasons and helped the Tigers to a two-loss season.”
Evans attended Eisenhower High in Goddard, Kan. and will join the PCC roster for the 2014 – 2015 season.
“We are excited that Trevon is going to a Pratt Beaver,” said PCC Athletic Director Kurt McAfee. “He had all kinds of scholarship offers from D- I and D-II Schools and every school in the Jayhawk and for him to pick Pratt was a defining moment.
“Coach Shaw and Coach Mathew signed a great recruiting class and Trevon was one of the key pieces. He is arguably one of the top basketball players in the state of Kansas. I know he will accomplish great things in life and it will all start here.”
