Mildred “Milly” Elizabeth Goyen, 88, died Aug. 18, 2014 at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. She was born Jan. 30, 1926 in LaGrange, Ga., the daughter of Forrest L. and Evelyn (Freeman) Jacobs.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Corlis Goyen Jr. They married on July 31, 1946 in LaGrange, and moved to Cairo, Kansas.
Other survivors include a son, Kenneth (Susan) Goyen, Athens, Ga.; a daughter Barbara C. Tafreshi, Boulder, Colo.; three grandsons, Bo James Molei, Matthew (Chenelle) Goyen, and Andrew Goyen; and two great-grandchildren, Lyla and Tristan Goyen.
Milly was a homemaker, active in HEU, Mother’s Club, and an active leader in 4-H. She belonged to her Bible Study Group for over 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, an active member of the 50/50 KumDub Sunday School Class and participated in the bell choir. She taught Sunday School and played the piano for the Cairo United Methodist Church. She also loved to paint.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the First United Methodist Church, Pratt with the Rev. Donna Voteau officiating. Burial will be in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo.
