January 20, 2017: SOAP #2605: Genesis 49-50; Psalm 8; Luke 20

Scripture: Luke (NIV) 20:35 But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, 36 and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection. 37 But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'. 38 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”

Observation: As I was reading this familiar passage, I saw a statement of truth from Jesus that I had overlooked. The first part, 'neither marry nor be given in marriage,' captured my thoughts and I never really pondered the second part, 'they can no longer die.' I believe what he said, but I just never given it attention that he said it so specifically in this passage. Those who physically die while being spiritually alive in Christ will no longer be able to die!!!

Application: Death becomes the doorway into life that can never die!

Prayer: Jesus, You have made my life full joy, meaning, and purpose. You have prepared a future for me and are preparing me for the future. Amen
