Wednesday evening was one of those idyllic spring nights. The winds of the afternoon had calmed, and temperatures were pleasant, not too warm. In Lemon Park and across Pratt people were outside walking: walking as couples, walking alone, walking with dogs.
It was a night to be enjoyed, especially with a forecast that has been promising strong thunderstorms, damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a tornado (according to time and temperature this evening).
Perhaps today will prove to be the calm before the storm. Anyway, Thursday may be a good night to keep the weather radio and a flashlight handy. Also, a lesson from Greensburg: make sure you know where your shoes are if you have to take shelter.
The changing weather often parallels life: there are periods of calm, followed by periods of storm. Thank goodness for the calm, but if we didn't have the storms, we likely wouldn't appreciate the calm as much.
We'll have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully it will just blow on by and give us a little rain along the way.
